Another Brad Beal blog (after a nice workout for the Wizards)

Ray AllenGAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The NBA Draft is two weeks from today and here at GatorZone we'll be pay close attention to Bradley Beal as he caravans to teams atop the draft board for workouts.

Like the one he apparently aced Thursday in Washington after sitting next to and chatting up the Rev. Jesse Jackson on the flight in.

“I think I did pretty good, actually,” Beal told reporters in D.C. “I wasn't too nervous. I thought I would be a lot more nervous than I was, but overall I think I did a pretty good job, showed a lot of things I was capable of doing.

Namely, shooting.

One of the drills was called the “5-4-3-2-1,” where a player has to sink five jump shots at one end of the court, then sprint to the other end and make four, then race back to the other and make three, then back for two, then finish with a dunk.

Beal needed nine shots to make the first five on the first stop, but then went 4-for-4 at the second. Beal vs Ray

Like I mentioned in a blog posted the night of the lottery, the Wizards really like Beal and love his high ceiling. I'm told there are those in the organization who love Kentucky's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, also -- what's not to love about that guy? -- and that some have some concerns about Beal's height. He's listed at 6-foot-4, but still was one of the nations best rebounding guards at nearly seven per game.

But here's something to consider: Washington's general manager is Ernie Grunfeld, who as GM for the Milwaukee Bucks once had (and loved) a shooting guard named Ray Allen.

Who is the player Beal has most often been compared to?

The Wizards, selecting third overall, need a shooter to pair with franchise point guard John Wall. Beal, the first player in UF history to be named first-team All-Southeastern Conference as a freshman, was the second prime prospect to meet with team officials. Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson, also a projected top-five player, worked out Wednesday at Verizon Center.

Georgetown guard Hollis Thompson and Grambling guard Quincy Roberts joined Beal for Thursday's workout in Washington.

Kidd-Gilchrist is due in Friday.
