Gators Men and Women Earn 2012 Scholar All-America Team Honors

The University of Florida's men and women's swimming and diving teams were named Scholar All America Team's in Division I for the 2012 season by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Along with team's earning honors, 11 student-athletes were named to the Scholar All-America Team and 21 earned Honorable Mention honors.
In order to receive the Team Scholar Award, a college or university swim team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in both the fall semester and semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Gators men were the fourth ranked team among SEC schools honored. They had a collective GPA of 3.11 for the year. Five men were named to the Scholar Al-America Team and three earned Honorable Mention honors. Florida finished the season ranked eighth in the nation and they had 11 student-athletes earn All-American honors.
On the women's side, Florida finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.43. They were one of four SEC schools to be named to the Scholar All America Team. This season the Gators finished 10th in the nation. Nine student-athletes earned All-America honors, including Elizabeth Beisel (North Kingstown, R.I.) who was a NCAA Champion in the 200 back. Teresa Crippen (Conshohocken, Pa.) and Ann-Lisa Pold (San Diego, Calf.) earned their fourth Scholar All-America honor. There were also nine Gators to earn honorable mention honors.
