
Soccer All-Americans Erika Tymrak & Kathryn Williamson on 2012 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

A pair of University of Florida soccer All-Americans - seniors Erika Tymrak (Bradenton, Fla.) and Kathryn Williamson (McKinney, Texas) are among the 38 players appearing on the Women's 2012 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) today. Florida is one of nine schools represented on the list with multiple players on the Watch List.
Considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer, the MAC's Hermann Trophy recipient is selected by Division I head coaches who are current NSCAA members. By November 29, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named December 6. They will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on for a news conference on January 11, 2013, where the winner will be announced.
Last December, both Tymrak and Williamson were named NSCAA All-Americans. Williamson picked up her second career All-America honor in 2011 She made her second consecutive appearance on the All-Southeastern Conference first team as a junior. In 2011, Williamson started every contest at center back, playing the entirety of 23 matches. She led all Florida field players with an average of 87.04 minutes per match. This summer, she played with the W-League's Ottawa Fury. The Fury won the W-League Championship on July 29 and Williamson was named the tournament's MVP.
Tymrak earned NSCAA All-America second team honors as a junior. In 2011, she earned All-SEC first-team honors for the second consecutive year and made her third appearance on the NSCAA All-South Region team. She led Florida in 2011 with collegiate-highs for points (32) and goals (12) and finished second among the Gators in assists (8). In the final SEC standings, Tymrak stood third in points, shared third in goals and shared sixth in assists.
During the course of the 2012 regular season, Florida will face five other teams with players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List – Duke (2 players), Florida State (2), Georgia (1), North Carolina (1) and Texas A&M (1)
Florida is No. 21 on the NSCAA/Continental Tire preseason poll released Aug. 7. Soccer will again be the first Florida team to compete this season, as the Gators open the 2012 season this Friday when Miami comes to town. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the James G.
