Monday, September 17, 2012 | Lacrosse
Four University of Florida lacrosse student-athletes, Cara Canington (Bel Air, Md.), Brittany Dashiell (Bel Air, Md.), Emily Dohony (Parkton, Md.) and Gabi Wiegand (Bay Shore, N.Y.), have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll for the 2012 season.
The IWLCA honored 171 student-athletes from 57 institutions for the annual award. In order to be eligible, the student-athlete must be a junior in academic standing. The award honors the student-athletes for their work on the field and in the classroom. UF's four student-athletes on the list are second-best of all its ALC opponents, as Vanderbilt led the league with six honorees.
The Gators are coming off an impressive season in 2012, which included their second-consecutive ALC regular season title and their first ALC tournament championship. They advanced all the way to the NCAA Semifinals and completed their season with a 19-3 overall record and 5-0 in conference play.
