The Florida men's golf team will continue its season at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill. on September 30. The tournament will run until October 2 and is being hosted by the University of Illinois.
“This will be the first big test of the year at a great venue,” said head coach Buddy Alexander.
Seniors T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) and Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), redshirt sophomore Santiago Gavino (San Luis Potosi, Mexico), sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), and freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.) will represent the University of Florida at the par-70, 7,080 yard course.
The Gators are one of eight teams in the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational field to be ranked or receiving votes in the most recent coaches' poll. Currently, the team is No.12 in the Golf World/Nike Poll.
“Olympia Fields always puts together a great field,” Alexander said.
For the fourth-straight season the Gators will play at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational. Last year, UF finished in seventh place in their first tournament of the season. McCumber led the team, finishing in a tie for seventh place. It marked the second year in-a-row he finished in the top-10 at the event.
The first round of play will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The second and third rounds will tee off at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available on www.golftstat.com.
