University of Florida freshman Savannah Jordan (Fayetteville, Ga./ Whitewater H.S.) started U.S. Under-18 Women's National Soccer Team camp today in Lakeland Ranch, Fla. from Oct. 13-18. She will rejoin the Gator team on Oct. 18.
Also occurring at the same location is the U.S. Under-17 Women's National Soccer Team's final training camp before heading to Jamaica to compete in the 2013 U-17 CONCACAF Women's Championship.
“That's a pretty exciting opportunity for her and we're looking forward to her getting that experience,” UF coach Becky Burleigh said.
Jordan is the Gator's top goal scorer of the 2013 season with 13 goals in 14 matches. In her first two matches alone she scored five goals to set the school record for number of goals scored in the season's opening two contests. She was named the Disney Soccer/National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Player of the Week after her opening weekend performance. Currently, she shares the Southeastern Conference goals lead and is second with 27 points. Jordan's season total also places her fourth among NCAA Division I goal scorers. She has started every match of the 2013 season.
Last summer, she played for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the W-League. She was the only incoming freshman who was a part of the 2013 W-League All-League team. Jordan also captained the Georgia Olympic Development Program state team for five years.
