AT THE BUZZER - A quick breakdown
Florida 86, Arkansas-Little Rock 56
WHAT IT MEANS: The Gators showed some life and lift that definitely was not there in the season-opening win over North Florida. In fact, it was missing in the first half. Florida needed a wave of full-court pressure to break open a 3-point game six minutes into the second period and blow out the Trojans for their 17th straight home win.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Senior forward Casey Prather scored 27 points on 10-for-11 from the floor, grabbed five rebounds and dished five assists. Sophomore forward Dorian Finney-Smith, the transfer from Virginia Tech, shined in his UF debut by scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds a day after pulling himself out of bed with a nasty virus. He's gonna help. A lot.
STAGGERING STATISTIC: Though they hit six in the game, the Gators have made just 13 shots from beyond the 3-point line this season. For a team (and head coach) who love that line, that's something to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
SUBPLOT: UF's full-court pressure blitz coincided when walk-on forward Jacob Kurt checked into the game for the first time. The score was 35-31 at the time. The Gators outscored the Trojans 51-25 from there.
UP NEXT: Quick turnaround. UF has to come back Sunday and prepare for a Monday home date against Southern at the O'Dome. That's a team that made the NCAA Tournament as a 16 seed last year and -- remember -- gave Gonzaga first in the first round.
