Jeremy Brown Named to SEC Community Service Team

University of Florida senior defensive back Jeremy Brown is the Southeastern Conference Football Community Service Team Player of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.
The Orlando, Fla., native has been involved with several community service organizations during his time as a Gator. These include: CAMP Gator, where he served as a mentor for a 3rd grade student at Williams Elementary, visiting him twice a week; Gator Tracks Program – an “Angel Tree” type program run by the student athletes that provides new shoes for local elementary school children; athletes collect and distribute the shoes; Kids Kicking Cancer – a nationwide program to help kids get through their serious illness and chronic pain by use of martial arts to combat pain, fear and stress; Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Tours , for which he gave tours of “The Swamp” to children in the Gainesville community; Video Game Challenge, for which Brown and other Florida student-athletes invited several groups of local children to participate in video game tournaments with the athletes; Thanksgiving Food Collection and Disbursement Event, during which Brown helped collect and distribute food to needy families in the Gainesville area during Thanksgiving; and visiting sick children at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
On the field, he has played in 24 career games with 10 starts in his career. Brown missed three entire seasons due to injury but has preserved and become a team leader, even though he is not an everyday starter anymore.
Brown has earned bachelor's degrees in Criminology and Sociology as well as a minor in Anthropology. Additionally, he began graduate classes this semester working towards a master's in Sport Management.
