
Bridget Sloan is SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week

University of Florida freshman Bridget Sloan (Pittsboro, Ind.) claims her third Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday. Auburn's Caitlin Atkinson is the SEC Gymnast of the Week and Arkansas' Kelci Lewis is the SEC Specialist of the Week.

She's picked up league honors four times in 2013, claiming the Week 5 SEC Gymnast of the Week and Week 1, 6 and 8 Freshman of the Week.
Sloan opened competition with a pair of collegiate-best marks versus Kentucky on Feb. 22. She claimed her third consecutive uneven bars title by upping her bars best to 9.975. Sloan has won four bar titles in the last five meets, all with marks of 9.925 or better. She also upped her vault best to 9.95 to take second overall. Four of her last five vault performances have earned a mark of 9.90 or better.
Sloan shares UF's lead for 2013 event titles at 10 (four uneven bars, three all-around, two beam and one vault).
She is No. 2 in uneven bars (9.915) and No. T7 in vault (9.90) in the latest national rankings. Sloan is a six-time (and current) member of the U.S. Senior National Team. She is the first World Championships' all-around champion (2009) to compete as a collegian.
The Florida-Kentucky meet airs on CSS today at 9 p.m. and on CST (Gainesville/Ocala Cox cable 259) on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.
Next up, No. 2 Florida meets No. 14 Minnesota (12-2, 4-1 Big 10) for the regular-season home finale on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. It is Senior Night and the careers of Florida's Ashan?e Dickerson, Marissa King, Dali Lemezan and Randy Stageberg will be celebrated in a post-meet ceremony.
Tickets for Friday's meet are $4 for adults while children 17 and under and UF students with a Gator1 card are admitted free.
