Saturday, August 3, 2013 | Men's Swimming & Diving
Redshirt-junior Sebastien Rousseau (Cape Town, South Africa) brought home his third victory of the US Open Championships during the fourth day of competition at the five day long-course meet held in Irvine, Calif. Three of Rousseau's Gator teammates also earned final swims and dropped impressive times.
Rousseau, the US Open meet record setter in the 200-meter butterfly and 400 individual medley, captured the 200 freestyle final with a personal best mark of 1:48.51. After outpacing the field in his previous two victories, Rousseau showed his ability to win the close races as well, clocking in the victory .29 ahead of his nearest competitor.
In the 'C' final of the 200 free, sophomore Matt Curby (Oviedo, Fla.) placed 22nd overall with a personal best of 1:51.02. Curby ended his prelims run in 19th with a time of 1:51.03.
Sophomore Ricky Munch (Clifton, Va.) finished 19th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.10. Munch jumped four places from his 22nd place prelim swim of 1:03.40.
Freshman Ashlee Linn (Southfield, Mich.) swam her career low in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.17, which was good for an 18th place finish.
Prelims begin every morning at 9:00 a.m. (PST) and finals begin every evening at 6:00 p.m. (PST). Full recaps will be available the morning after each event. Gator results are listed at the bottom.
