Florida's Christen Westphal named to Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week

After helping the Gators' to a pair of shutout wins last weekend, Florida's Christen Westphal (Brecksville, Ohio) has been named to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week.

She is the second Gator honored by the outlet through the opening three weeks of the season, as freshman Savannah Jordan was Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week on Aug. 27.
With wins over Oklahoma (3-0) and Oklahoma State (2-0) last weekend, the Gators are now on a stretch of three consecutive shutout wins. Westphal played all but 14 minutes last weekend, helping to limit the opponents to a combined total of six shots. She is second among the 2013 field player in average minutes played, with 83.33 mpm from her center back position.
In 2012, Westphal was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region third team selection. She was named to the Southeastern Conference second team and also named to SEC Freshman team. She started all but the season opener and led Florida's field players with average of 87.2 minutes per match.
The No. 10 Gators face two unbeaten teams this weekend in home and away action. First, Florida faces undefeated Minnesota on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. in the James G. Pressly Stadium. Then the Gators travel to Tampa to meet South Florida at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15
