
Savannah Jordan is SEC Soccer Freshman of the Week

A pair of goals in the opening half of Florida's 3-0 win Friday versus Alabama earned Savannah Jordan (Fayetteville, Ga.) the Southeastern Conference Freshman Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.

It is the second such honor for Jordan and this is the third time a Gator has claimed the honor in 2013 as Pamela Begič was the SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 9.
The pair of goals in the Gators' SEC opener now brings Jordan's season total to 10 goals. She is one of nine NCAA Division I players with a double-digit goals total for 2013.

On Friday, Jordan scored her first from five yards off assists from Lindsey Cooper and Havana Solaun. Then she hit the post with a 12-yard shot off the assists from Meggie Dougherty Howard and Brooke Smith, which kicked in for her fourth double-goal match of the season.
She is the first Gator have four matches with two or more goals through a season's first nine matches. Jordan also had a pair of goals versus Florida Gulf Coast and Minnesota plus a hat-trick versus Oregon State.
Her 10 goals ranks fourth all-time among Gator freshmen for season totals. Andi Sellers (1997) leads with 23 goals, followed by Abby Wambach (19 in 1998) and Melissa Pini (11 in 1995).
The No. 8 Gators have their first league road action next weekend, facing Mississippi (8-1-1, 1-0) on Friday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. ET and Missouri (5-4, 1-0 SEC) on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. ET.
