University of Florida defensive back Vernon Hargreaves, III earned the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honor for his performance in the 24-7 win at Kentucky, the league office announced Monday.
Hargreaves made his third interception of the season, the most by an SEC freshman and the third-most nationally among freshmen. He intercepted the pass in the end zone from Kentucky's Maxwell Smith to rob the Wildcats of a third-quarter touchdown. Hargreaves currently leads the Gators in interceptions.
Next up, Florida (3-1, 2-0 SEC) returns to The Swamp to host Arkansas (3-2, 0-2 SEC) on Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
