Prather Selected to USBWA Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List
Thursday, January 23, 2014 | Men's Basketball
Senior forward Casey Prather has been selected to the 2014 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch list as announced by the organization this afternoon.
The USBWA has named a National Player of the Year since the 1958-59 season. The award was re-named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year, Oscar Robertson, in 1998. It is the nation's oldest player of the year award and the only one named after a former player.
This season has been a breakout year for the forward as Prather is averaging 17.3 points per game, scoring double-figures in every contest he has played in. He has led the Gators in scoring on nine occasions in his career, eight of those coming this year alone, while his .636 field goal percentage leads the conference and ranks fourth in the nation.
Finalists for the award will be chosen in mid-March after the USBWA announces their 2013-14 All-America Team.
