Gator Men's Basketball Ranked 7th in Preseason Associated Press Poll
Friday, October 31, 2014 | Men's Basketball
The Associated Press released its preseason Top 25 on Friday and, just like the coaches poll, pegged the Gators at 7th. It marks the highest preseason AP ranking for UF since starting the 2006-07 campaign ranked No. 1.
Florida's No. 7 ranking in the AP poll is three spots higher than last season, when the team opened 10th and closed out the season ranked No. 1 in each of the last four AP polls (the AP does not conduct a poll after the NCAA Tournament).
As in the coaches poll, Florida and Kentucky were the only Southeastern Conference teams to appear, though Arkansas and LSU both received votes. The SEC and the ACC both have two teams ranked in the top seven.
Florida opens its season next Thursday, Nov. 6, with an exhibition game vs. Barry University. Single-game, season and three-game plan tickets are all available through the Gator Ticket Office.
