
Florida Places Five on All-SEC Soccer Teams

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Five Gators appear on 2014 All-Southeastern Conference teams, including four on the first team. Three Florida players appear on the All-SEC first team for the second consecutive year - forward Savannah Jordan, midfielder Havana Solaun and defender Christen Westphal. Also earning All-SEC first team honors is senior defender Tessa Andujar.

First team:
Defender – Tessa Andujar: All-Southeastern Conference first team… Started all matches at outside back… SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6 after registering a goal at Arkansas and an assist on the game-winning goals at Texas A&M and Arkansas… Scored a goal and turned in two assists versus Mississippi State to earn a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week (Oct. 15)… First double-assist match came at Oklahoma State on first two goals… Provided assist versus South Florida and at Florida State… Leads UF and shares fourth in SEC with nine assists through 18 matches.

Midfielder – Havana Solaun: All-Southeastern Conference first team selection for second consecutive year… Second among Gators in goals (6) and points (19)… Points total shares ninth in SEC and is also tied for 10th in total assists (7)… Scored first goal in 4-0 win at Oklahoma State… Turned in a goal and an assist versus Missouri, at LSU and versus Vanderbilt… Turned in fifth double-goal match of career with two scores in second half at South Carolina...Appeared in every match, starting 17… Played entirety of Kentucky and Tennessee matches… Provided an assist in each of opening halves of two matches, at Arkansas and versus Mississippi State… Among the 63 players listed for the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Defender – Christen Westphal: All-Southeastern Conference first-team for second consecutive year… Provided an assist on Havana Solaun's goal versus Vanderbilt… Played entirety of 12 of 18 matches at center back… Second among the Gators with average of 84.4 minutes per match… Among the 63 players listed for the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List… Attended U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team camp at U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California in December of 2013 and May of 2014.
All-SEC Second Team:
Defender – Claire Falknor: All-Southeastern Conference second team selection… Started every match, playing entirety of 14 matches… First 11 starts at center back and played left back at South Carolina and Kentucky… Provided assist on Savannah Jordan's game-winning goal versus No. 22 Georgia… Leads Gators with her average of 86.5 minutes per match.
In other awards announced Sunday, Texas A&M's senior Shea Groom is the SEC Offensive Player of Year and Kentucky's Arin Gilliland claimed the Defensive Player of the Year honor. Alabama's Laura Lee Smith is the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient and South Carolina's Savannah McCaskill is the SEC Freshman of the Year. Texas A&M's G Guerrieri is the SEC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year after leading the Aggies to the 2014 SEC title.
The Gators now head to the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. Florida is the No. 2 seed and will open play Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET, facing the winner of Monday's play-in match of No. 7 seed Alabama versus No. 10 Tennessee. The Gators were runner-up in the 2013 SEC Tournament and have claimed the tournament title 10 times in the program's 19 previous appearances.
