This is exactly the match-up the NCAA Committee foresaw when seeding the 64-team field as Florida is the region's No. 2 seed and Stanford is the region's top seed. The winner of Friday's match advances the NCAA College Cup, set for Dec. 5-7 at the FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida.
The two teams met earlier this season on Sept. 12 at Cagan Stadium, with the Cardinal taking a 1-0 overtime win.
Nine teams have claimed the NCAA title in the 32-year history of the women's championship and Friday's match-up includes two of those teams. Florida won the 1998 title and Stanford claimed the 2011 crown.
A live stream of the Florida-Stanford match can be seen on the Pac-12 Network site or listen to Corey Brook and Matthew Stubbington's call at GatorZone.com.
