
No. 8 Florida Soccer Faces Tennessee at SEC Tournament

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Florida and Tennessee meet in the Southeastern Conference Soccer Tournament's first match of the day on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Florida is the tournament's No. 2 seed after finishing a point behind Texas A&M in the final league standings. The SEC Tournament expanded a day in 2012 after the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M.

The No. 10 seed Vols won 3-2 over No. 7 seed Alabama in Monday's play-in match to advance to the tournament's eight-team bracket. Florida is 1-0-1 versus the Vols in Orange Beach, with the win coming in overtime in 2009 opening round action when the two teams last met in the SEC Tournament.

Last Meeting:
This is the second meeting between Florida and Tennessee in 13 days as the two met in Gainesville on Oct. 24 in the final weekend of SEC play. UF took a 3-1 win, with all the scoring coming in the second half. Tennessee took a 1-0 lead into halftime after senior Hannah Wilkinson scored in the fifth minute. With the Gators outshooting the Vols 22-4, Savannah Jordan finally put the Gators on the board in the 70th minute. She headed in the cross from Lauren Silver to tie the match. Then the Gators were awarded a penalty kick after UT was called for a handball in the box in the 75th minute. Senior Tessa Andujar successfully converted her first collegiate PK attempt to put the Gators ahead. Jordan finished off her third double-goal match of 2014 and the 10th multi-goal match of her career when she put the ball from Meggie Dougherty Howard in with her left foot from six yards in the 84th minute.
All-SEC Gators:
Five Gators appear on 2014 All-SEC teams, including four on the first team. Three Florida players are on the All-SEC first team for the second consecutive year - forward Savannah Jordan, midfielder Havana Solaun and defender Christen Westphal. Also earning All-SEC first team honors is senior defender Tessa Andujar. Florida's other center back, junior Claire Falknor, appears on the All-SEC second team.

Tennessee Soccer in 2014:
After trailing Alabama 2-0, Tennessee advanced to Wednesday's action at the SEC Tournament with three second-half goals to win 3-2. The Vols are making its first appearance in the SEC Tournament since 2012. Tennessee was 3-4-1 in league play in the month of October, which included a 3-0 win versus then No. 21 (Soccer America ranking) Missouri on Oct. 26 and losses to No. 8 Florida (3-1) and No. 20 Georgia (2-1) on Oct. 3. Sophomore Amy Neal and senior All-American Hannah Wilkinson lead UT with 16 points off of seven goals and two assists each.

The Gators have won a league-leading 10 SEC Tournament titles, with the last title coming in 2012.
