
Four Gator Soccer Players Named to NSCAA All-South Region Teams

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Four Gators are part of the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region teams. The Gators placed a pair on the NSCAA All-South Region first team – Savannah Jordan and Christen Westphal – and another duo on the second team – Tessa Andujar and Havana Solaun.
The same four on the All-South Region first team also earned 2014 All-Southeastern Conference first-team honors. Jordan and Westphal are making their second consecutive appearance on the All-South Region first team. Solaun also is a repeat All-South Region selection, receiving first team honors in 2013.
Here's a look at the season notes for Florida's 2014 All-South Region recipients:
First team:
Forward – Savannah Jordan: All-SEC first-team selection for second consecutive year… One of 16 semifinalists for Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy… SEC points (46) and goals (19) leader, scoring goals in 15 matches – including two at New Mexico, versus Mississippi State, Tennessee and Mercer… Pair of goals versus Mercer was 11th multiple goal match of career… Tied for seventh among the nation's goal scorers through NCAA Quarterfinal play… Career total of 41 goals is second only to Gator Great Abby Wambach's freshman and sophomore total of 42 goals… Top 10 on two Gator career charts after two seasons – No. 6 goals (41) and No. 7 points (93)… First double assist match of career versus Vanderbilt… Three-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week… College Sports Madness National Player of Week (Oct. 6) and Capital One Cup Primetime Performer of the Week (Oct. 26)… Named to U.S. roster for FIFA Women's Under-20 World Cup… Started U.S.'s first and final matches of group play and appeared in quarterfinal match.
Defender – Christen Westphal: All-SEC first-team for second consecutive year… Provided an assist on Havana Solaun's goal versus Vanderbilt… Played entirety of 17 of 23 matches at center back… Second among the Gators with average of 87.3 minutes per match… Among the 63 players listed for the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List… Attended U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team camp at U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California in December of 2013 and May of 2014.
Second team
Defender – Tessa Andujar: All-SEC first team… Started all matches at outside back… SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6 after registering a goal at Arkansas and an assist on the game-winning goals at Texas A&M and Arkansas… Scored a goal and turned in two assists versus Mississippi State to earn a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week (Oct. 15)… First double-assist match came at Oklahoma State on first two goals… Provided assist versus South Florida and at Florida State… Led UF and shares third in SEC with 10 assists through 23 matches.
Midfielder – Havana Solaun: All-SEC first team selection for second consecutive year… Second among Gators in goals (9) and points (27)… Tied for fifth in SEC in points, seventh in assists (9) and sixth in goals… Finished among the top 10 on following Gator Career Charts – No. 10 goals (30), No. 6 assists (32), No. T7 game-winning goals (12) and No. T8 points (92)… Put in tying goal at Stanford in NCAA Quarterfinal play… Turned in a goal and an assist versus Missouri, at LSU and versus Vanderbilt… Turned in fifth double-goal match of career with two scores in second half at South Carolina...Appeared in every match, starting 22… Played entirety of four matches… Among the 63 players listed for the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
