Jaterra Bonds Named to 2014 SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team

In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC once again highlighted a Community Service Team for women's basketball for the 2013-14 season and Florida senior Jaterra Bonds (Gainesville, Fla.) was honored for her volunteer efforts.
Among several of the different groups where Bonds has reached out in her hometown of Gainesville, some of the highlights include:
· One of the top Gator student-athletes this year for volunteering hours in the community
· Has spent a number of hours at a variety of locations throughout Gainesville, but has spent the most visiting Girl's Place Inc., where she helps students during their reading/studying time
· Spending time with Autistic youth in the classroom
· She has also done community service at Shands Hospital with cancer stricken children- arts and crafts
· Volunteers at her former High School – PK Yonge the flagship school of the University of Florida
This marks the 16th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women's basketball as well as for men's basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
