Wednesday, April 2, 2014 | Softball
Gator Softball senior pitcher Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) is one of 10 softball finalists for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award, announced Wednesday (April 2) by Premier Sports Management.
The accolade, which is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, honors senior NCAA student-athletes who serve their communities and utilize their visibility to make a positive impact. The initial field of 30 softball candidates was announced in February. Fan voting runs through May 12 at seniorCLASSaward.com. Fan votes will be combined with selections for media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winner for softball will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Women's College World Series, which runs May 29-June 4 in Oklahoma City.
Rogers has earned All-American, All-SEC and NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team selections in each of her three full seasons with the Gators. The senior also was named to the 2013 SEC Academic Honor Roll. Rogers owns a 14-5 record this season for the No. 6/7 Gators, and she became the second pitcher in program history to reach the 100-win milestone on Feb. 14 against Hawaii.
