
UF Baseball's Taylor Gushue Named SEC Player of the Week For First Time

Florida junior catcher Taylor Gushue was chosen as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the first time in his career after hitting .615 in four outings and leading the Gators to their third SEC Championship in five years.
Gushue's Highlights
· The junior from Boca Raton batted .615 (8-for-13) as the Gators claimed three of four games last week
· Helped the Gators secure the outright SEC Championship by going 7-for-11 (.636) in the series victory at Tennessee
· Had a pair of three-hit outings, with four RBI, four walks and three doubles against the Vols
· Captured the league's batting title in conference games with a .389 clip
· Was the runner-up in SEC contests in slugging percentage (.583) and on-base percentage (.449)
· Went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and solo homer in the regular-season finale
· Came through with a 3-for-4, two-double performance in UF's 4-2 win that locked up the SEC
· Tied career high with three walks and was 1-for-3 in the series opener
· Leads the team in the “Triple Crown” categories with a .335 average, 46 RBI and six homers
The top-seeded Gators (37-19) will begin play at the 2014 SEC Tournament on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on CSS against the winner of Tuesday's game between eighth-seeded Alabama (34-21) and ninth-seeded Kentucky (32-22).
