
UF's Taylor Gushue & Logan Shore Named All-Americans by Louisville Slugger

Florida junior catcher Taylor Gushue was named a second-team Louisville Slugger All-American on Thursday by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, while freshman right-hander Logan Shore was a third-team selection.
A semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award who was a first-team All-SEC selection, Gushue led the SEC in conference games with a .389 batting average and was the runner-up in slugging percentage (.583) and on-base percentage (.449). The Boca Raton native is hitting .323 with team highs in RBI (49), doubles (16) and homers (6).
The 2014 SEC Freshman of the Year and a first-team all-league pick, Shore is 7-3 with a 1.99 ERA in 15 appearances spanning 90.2 innings on the campaign and has a team-high 62 strikeouts. In 10 SEC contests, the righty from Coon Rapids, Minn., went 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA, tying for the lead in conference victories. The righty had 41 strikeouts in 65 innings and limited opponents to a .234 batting average.
No. 8 Florida (40-21) opens the 2014 NCAA Tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. at McKethan Stadium by hosting fourth-seeded College of Charleston (41-17) in the second game of the double-elimination Gainesville Regional.
