
Stephanie Tofft Named to SEC Community Service Team

Florida senior third baseman Stephanie Tofft was named on Monday to the SEC Softball Community Service Team, as announced by the league office. The conference has selected one student-athlete from each school to a Community Service Team for every SEC-sponsored sport since 2004.
Below is a glance at Tofft's involvement in the Gainesville community during the 2013-14 school year:
· Served as a tutor at Terwilliger Elementary School on numerous occasions
· Wrote encouragement cards to local students as they prepared to take Florida's Comprehensive Assessment Test
· Volunteered at after-school programs with Girls Place and J.J Finley Elementary
· Participated with her teammates in a visit to the MLB Urban Youth Academy in New Orleans following the series at LSU this March
· Visited patients at the UF Health Shands Hospital
· Has helped to promote an active lifestyle as part of the Gator Move program
· Prepared Thanksgiving baskets and assisted with a canned food drive to reach out to members of the Gainesville community
· Worked with Caleb's Pitch and Climb for Cancer to provide a positive experience for families confronting childhood illnesses
· Assisted with the Roll with a Gator program at Howard Bishop Middle School
· Worked with a Softball Kids Camp in October
Tofft and the Gators will open SEC Tournament play at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, when they will face Georgia in Columbia, S.C. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU, with radio coverage on WGGG (1230-AM).
