
Florida Faces SEC Rival Alabama in WCWS Championship Series

Seeded fifth in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, the University of Florida softball team will meet Alabama in the best-of-three championship series of the Women's College World Series. All three games are set for 8 p.m. (all times Eastern), with ESPN2 to carry Monday's Game 1 and ESPN to televise Game 2 on Tuesday and (if necessary) Game 3 on Wednesday. Florida has defeated Baylor (twice) and Oregon on its way to the final, outscoring the Bears and Ducks by a 21-3 margin.
WGGG (1230-AM) will provide radio coverage, with Adam Schick (play-by-play) and Megan Bush (analysis) on the call. In addition, live stats will be available through Gametracker on the GatorZone.com schedule page.
A Look at the Gators' Postseason History
The Gators are 79-56 (.585) all-time in postseason games: 22-24 (.478) in the SEC Tournament and 57-32 (.640) in the NCAA Tournament.
Gator Bites—Setting Up the WCWS Matchup
Florida is 53-12 (15-9 SEC), while Alabama comes in at 53-11 (19-5 SEC)… The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series, 32-26.
UF vs. WCWS Field
The Orange and Blue were 3-3 in the regular season against the WCWS field… During the regular season, Florida faced Alabama three times (1-2), Florida State twice (1-1) and Oregon once (1-0).
Final Matches Two SEC Teams for First Time Ever
Florida and Alabama are the first pair of Southeastern Conference teams to meet in the WCWS championship series… The SEC will earn its second softball national champion (2012: Alabama).
Gators Dominate Bears and Ducks to Reach WCWS Finals
Florida's Thursday win was Baylor's first double-digit defeat in exactly three years since a 14-2 (5 innings) loss to Georgia on May 29, 2011… UF beat top-seed Oregon 4-0 on Friday, as Hannah Rogers bested the Ducks for the second time this year (also: 2-1, 8 innings, Feb. 28 at Kissimmee, Fla.)… The Gators had a postseason-high three doubles in each game against the Bears.
