Monday, June 23, 2014 | Men's Basketball
Billy Donovan has USA Basketball rolling after three resounding victories, earning the Group B top seed for the semifinals at the 2014 FIBA Americas and running Donovan's record as USA head coach to 17-0.
"I think during our last three games, we've gotten better in some areas and we got a chance to learn in some other areas, so we're excited that we've been able to move on and advance to the medal round,” Donovan said.
The USA squad (3-0) takes on a Dominican Republic team (2-1) that finished as a runner up to Canada in Group A. The other semifinal features Group A winner Canada against Group B runner up Argentina. The gold and bronze medal games will take place on Tuesday.
In the USA's tournament opener, it posted a 156-58 win over Uruguay, setting USA Basketball records for points, margin of victory (98) and assists (40).
For any Gator fans in the Colorado Springs area who wish to see Donovan in action, the event is free and open to the public. More information can be found on USA Basketball's official website.
