Nine members of the Gator baseball team were named to the 2014 Spring Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll released on Thursday. The total gives Florida 71 Academic All-SEC recipients in seven years under the direction of head coach Kevin O'Sullivan.
Juniors Mike Fahrman, Zack Powers, Bobby Poyner, Justin Shafer and Josh Tobias, as well as redshirt sophomore Corey Stump, each made the list for the second time, while junior Ryan Harris and sophomores Richie Martin and Danny Young were first-time recipients. Martin and Young were named to the 2013 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.
The 2014 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2013 Summer, 2013 Fall and 2014 Spring terms.
Any student-athlete who participates in a SEC championship sport or a student-athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution's NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
