Monday, July 14, 2014 | Softball
University of Florida infielder Kelsey Stewart and Gator alumna Michelle Moultrie helped the United States national team to a championship this week at the General Tire World Cup of Softball IX, while infielder Kathlyn Medina earned a sixth-place finish with Mexico.
The Stars and Stripes won the World Cup for the seventh time in the event's nine-year history. Moultrie captured gold in a World Cup for the third time in her four-year career with Team USA (also: 2011, 2012), and Stewart earned a medal for the second consecutive year after she won silver at last year's ISF X Junior Women's World Championship.
