Cross Country Alumnae Shelby Hayes & Cory McGee Earn Undergraduate Degrees
Saturday, August 9, 2014 | Cross Country
Outstanding Senior Leader and Gator thrower David Levin helped highlight Florida track and field and cross country's summer 2014 graduates Saturday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Levin and distance track and cross runner Shelby Hayes both walk Saturday, while 2014 SEC Indoor Women's Runner of the Year Cory McGee and All-American Lanie Whittaker both earned their undergraduate degrees from UF as well. Former Gator Gray Horn also completed his Florida degree following the summer semester.
Each semester the Alumni Association honors graduates of the University of Florida for achievements during their college career. In award letters to the winners, the Alumni Association writes award winners “have given unselfishly to your fellow students and to this community”. As the summer Outstanding Senior Leader, Levin will receive his award at commencement.
The Gator quintet joins a total of 14 University of Florida student-athletes set to participate in Saturday's commencement ceremonies.
A total of six graduates were part of Southeastern Conference and/or NCAA Championship teams during their Gator careers and 10 earned Academic All-SEC honors.
