GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A goal in each of Florida's league wins last weekend gives the Southeastern Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor to Gator sophomore Savannah Jordan, the league office released Monday morning.
| SEC Players of the Week – 9/29/14 | |
| Offensive – | Savannah Jordan , Florida |
| Defensive – | Emily Rusk, Alabama |
| Co-Freshman – | Kelsey Killean, Georgia |
She is the third Gator to receive the honor in 2014, joining Jillian Graff (Week 1) and Pamela Begič (Week 3). Jordan also received the SEC Player of the Week honor on Oct. 28, 2013.
Jordan broke the 1-all tie Friday versus No. 22 Georgia with her score in the 72nd minute. Junior Claire Falknor won the ball just below the midfield circle on the Florida half. She took a couple of touches to just outside the circle, looked up and saw an opportunity. The long ball she launched found Jordan midway in the Georgia half. Jordan and the UGA goalkeeper bumped, causing Jordan to stumble, but she bounced up quickly to continue her run and touched the ball in for the game winner.
On Sunday in UF's 3-1 win versus Missouri, Jordan's goal in the 58th minute was the final score of the match. Havana Solaun's pass found fellow senior Tessa Andujar making a right-side run. Andujar took a couple of centering touches, then crossed it to Jordan at the near post. Jordan used a flick of her foot to send the ball in at the far post for her second goal of the weekend.
Jordan also provided an assist on the first goal versus Missouri, tapping the ball from Meggie Dougherty Howard to her left where Solaun found it to place it in from 10 yards in the 20th minute.
Her seven goals and 17 points leads the Gators in 2014. The three assists in 2014 matches her total set in her freshman season in 2013.
Florida travels west for a pair of Southeastern Conference matches next weekend. Walton Complex in College Station, Texas. Watch the stream of Friday's match on SEC Network+.
