
Florida's Pamela Begič is SEC Offensive Soccer Player of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A goal and an assist in Florida's 2-1 win at No. 2 Florida State earns the Southeastern Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for Gator sophomore Pamela Begič., the league office released Monday morning.

She is the second Gator to receive the honor in 2014 as Jillian Graff received the first SEC Offensive Player of the Week award on Aug. 25.
Friday's meeting between No. 8 Florida and No. 2 Florida State was the nation's only match of last weekend featuring two top-10 teams. Begič scored at 24:12 with an eight-yard shot off the endline pass from Tessa Andjuar which was redirected to Begic by a touch from Savannah Jordan. Then within five minutes after entering the match, sophomore Betsy Middleton scored at 34:06 on a 20-yard blast set up by the pass from Begič.
Begič's goal ended a UF scoreless stretch versus the Seminoles at 226 minutes. The win ended FSU's home unbeaten streak, which stood at 36-0-1 entering the match. FSU's unbeaten record in regulation play (home or away) also ended at 38 matches.
Begič had at least a point in Florida's two matches of the week, as she registered the assist on Florida's final goal in a 4-0 win at Oklahoma State on Sunday, Aug. 31.
The Gators now head to the West Coast to continue play versus top-four teams when they face No. 4 Stanford (4-0-1, 0-0 Pac 12) in Palo Alto, California, on Friday, Sept. 12. That match will air on the Pac-12 Bay Area Network at 10:30 p.m. ET.
