Gator Gymnast Bridget Sloan is SEC Specialist of the Week; Sidelined with a Severe Ankle Sprain

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A perfect 10.0 vault mark in Sunday's 2015 opener gave Gator gymnast Bridget Sloan the season's first Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
Sloan also shared the Ball State dual uneven bars title with fellow junior Bridgette Caquatto at 9.95. The two wins Sunday raise her career event titles total to 58, which is seventh all-time for the Gators.
Sloan did suffer a severe sprain to her right ankle on her final tumbling pass in Sunday's floor competition and could not finish the routine. Depending on her recovery, it is possible Sloan could return late in the season.
Sloan 10.0 Notes:
Sunday's 10.0 in vault was the third event Sloan has found perfection as a Gator, as she was the nation's first to earn the mark in floor exercise and then balance beam in 2014. She is the only Gator in the program's 43-year history to earn a 10.0 in three different events.
Sloan now shares UF records for all-around (39.825), vault (10.0), balance beam (10.0) and floor exercise (10.0). She is the defending NCAA uneven bars champion and won the NCAA all-around and balance beam titles in 2013. Her three wins makes her the Gators' all-time leader for NCAA titles.

The Gators' 2015 home opener is also the SEC opener. No. 3 Florida meets No. 21 Auburn Jan. 16 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Note the new start for all Gator gymnastics home competitions – 6:45 p.m.
