Gator Softball Head Coach Tim Walton met with the media on Monday at UF's All-Sports Press Conference to preview the upcoming season.
Ranked No. 1 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) preseason poll, Florida will open the 2015 campaign on Feb. 6 against Hampton in Tampa, Fla. The contest against the Pirates is the first of the Gators' five games at the USF Softball Classic. The home opener for the Orange and Blue is scheduled for Feb. 13, when UF will host NC State at 6 p.m. (all times ET) at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Before the games begin, the Gators will host an open practice at their home field at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The event will allow fans to meet the team, watch part of a scrimmage and receive autographs. Before the open practice, the team also will sign autographs in Alligator Alley at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center before the Gator men's basketball team faces Arkansas at 1 p.m.
