Warner Named SEC Diver of the Week
Tuesday, January 27, 2015 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Kahlia Warner of the University of Florida women's swimming and diving team was named the Southeastern Conference's Female Diver of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday (Jan. 27).
Warner, a native of Queensland, Australia, placed first on both the one-meter (322.13) and three-meter (322.58) dives this past weekend in Florida's dual meet at Auburn. Her placing first on each board and earning 18 team points was instrumental in the Gators victory over the Tigers, as UF squeezed by AU, 152-148.
Last Saturday's win marked the first time since 2009 that Florida's women earned a dual meet win at Auburn. In addition, Warner's mark on the one-meter was a personal-best score.
Today's accolade is Warner's fourth-career weekly award and second this season. She last garnered the distinction on October 14, 2014 in the conferences first weekly honors of the 2014-15 season.
Overall, Warner has captured nine first place finishes this season, with six coming on the one-meter dive and three on the three-meter.
Florida returns home this weekend to finish off its regular season against Tennessee in the Stephen C. O'Connell on Saturday at 11 a.m. In addition to that meet being senior day, it will be Florida's final meet before the SEC Championships (Feb. 17-21).
Saturday's meet kicks off with diving at 9:30 a.m. before Florida's senior day festivities at 10:30 a.m. The swim portion begins at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network +.
