Gators Aim to Regroup at Auburn on Sunday
Saturday, January 3, 2015 | Women's Basketball
It's a quick turnaround for Florida and the majority of the Southeastern Conference teams, which return to the court less than 43 hours since playing its league openers on Friday. The Gators played host to and lost to LSU, 68-65, Friday evening.
Florida takes on Auburn Sunday at Auburn Arena where tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT).
On the Move
· Since the final horn sounded at approximately 9 p.m. against LSU, the Gators were back on the practice court 15 hours later watching film at 12 noon and then running through plays and working out at 1 p.m.
· At 4 p.m. on Saturday, the team buses were on the road traveling to Auburn in preparation for Sunday's 4 p.m. ET game against the Tigers.
· When the Gators take the court for the opening tip against Auburn, a mere 43 hours will have passed between UF's first two league games.
Preseason Predictions
· Florida was picked during the preseason by the SEC coaches and media to finish ninth in the 14-team league standings.
· Auburn was selected 10th in both polls.
Who's Hot
· In the last four games, sophomore post Ronni Williams is averaging a team-leading 11.8 points with 6.3 rebounds, while hitting 50 percent from the floor.
· She has also, however, converted just 64.7 percent (11-17) from the free throw line during the four-game span.
What's Not
· The Gator's free throw shooting has been off the mark, to say the least.
· In the last four games, UF is converting a mere 63.9 percent (53-83) from the line.
· While Cassie Peoples has continued to be her impressive steady self from the line, converting 80.0 percent (8-10) during the last four games, senior forward Kayla Lewis has been one of the top two Gators finding her way to the line more, but has lost her stroke during this four-game stretch, managing just 4-of-10 (40.0 percent).
