Hargreaves Named Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Association announced Monday morning.
With 22 tackles so far this season, the Tampa, Fla.-native is one of 16 semifinalists for the award recognizing the best defensive back in college football. The Gator has also grabbed three interceptions for 132 yards. Hargreaves join three other members of the SEC in the running for the Jim Thorpe Award.
The three Thorpe Award finalists will be named on Monday, November 23rd and the winner will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 10th airing on ESPN. The winner of the 2015 Thorpe Award will be honored at a banquet in Oklahoma City on February 2, 2016.
