This is the second such honor for Jordan as she claimed the Aug. 31 award. Three Gators have claimed SEC weekly honors in 2015 – Brooke Sharp (Offensive – Sept. 8) and Sarah Troccoli (Freshman of the Week – Aug. 31). This is Jordan's sixth SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
Jordan's Performance Last Week:
Jordan provided the Gators with three goals in last week's matches. Against No. 17 South Carolina on Oct. 22, Jordan scored the tying goal. Senior Christen Westphal launched a ball from just inside the Florida half. Jordan jockeyed with the defenders, winning control to take a left-footed, sharp-angled shot that scored at the far post in the 21st minute. Florida won the match 2-1 2OT.
Against Arkansas on Oct. 25, Jordan scored Florida's second and final goals in a 4-0 win. A corner kick in the 56th minute sent by Westphal traveled to the far post. Jordan's header banged the underside of the crossbar and kicked in.
Jordan was among a trio of Gator juniors who combined for Florida's final goal in the 73rd minute. Meggie Dougherty Howard passed the ball to Betsy Middleton, who was making a run down the left side of the box. Middleton one-touched an angled ball to the far post, which Jordan put in from two-yards with her right foot.
Jordan now has 17 goals for the season to lead the league and place her among the nation's top three scorers. Her two goals versus Arkansas was her fourth multi-goal match of the season and the 15th of her career.
Next up for the Gators:
Florida finishes regular-season action at Georgia on Thursday, Oct. 29. Both teams are looking for a win to keep Southeastern Conference hopes alive. A win would give the Gators their 14th league title. A Georgia win would keep the Bulldogs above the 10-team cutoff for the SEC Tournament.
The match will air live on the SEC Network (Gainesville/Ocala Cox cable 68 or 1068). Gator Great and former U.S. National Team player Heather Mitts and Jenn Hildreth call the action Thursday.
The match also streams on WatchESPN and can be heard on ESPN Gainesville 850AM/95.3FM or on GatorZone.com.
