GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- On the heels of the 2015 fall season, the 2015 BIG EAST Champion Gators took one more moment Saturday to reflect on the team's accomplishments last season… with 90,000 of their closest friends under the lights in The Swamp.
Florida was honored during the No. 24 Gators vs. No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels clash in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, a game the football Gators won in dominating fashion, 38-10.
After getting its start in the American Lacrosse Conference, and winning the 2011, 2012, 2014 & 2014 ALC Championships, the Gators made the move to the BIG EAST last season -- and they did so in dominating fashion.
The Orange and Blue went 15-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play to pick up both the regular-season and BIG EAST Tournament crowns their first year in the league and picked up one of the University of Florida's seven conference titles through the 2014-15 athletics season.
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
The 2015-16 Gators kick off the fall schedule this weekend in Maryland with stops in Baltimore (Oct. 10) and Annapolis (Oct. 11). Florida will square off with both Loyola and Virginia twice in a unique format with a 25 minute running clock. First up Loyola, then Virginia, then repeat.
Sunday the Gators play the U.S. National Team at 10 a.m., followed by Navy at noon in Annapolis.
