
Morrison Named Semifinalist for the 2015 Butkus Award

University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison has been named one of the 10 Butkus Award 2015 collegiate semifinalists, the Butkus Foundation revealed on Monday morning.
The Bellwood, Ill. native leads the Gator defense with 60 total tackles during the 2015 campaign, including 7.0 tackles for a loss. The Gator senior has also recorded 1.5 sacks for a loss of 15 yards and two quarterback hurries.
Morrison led the Gators with 101 tackles during the 2014 season and became the first UF player to have 100 tackles since Ahmad Black in 2010, and the first linebacker to amass 100 tackles since Brandon Spikes had 131 in 2007
Named for retired NFL Player, Dick Butkus, who is regarded by NFL Films as the best defensive player in football history, the Butkus Award recognizes the best linebacker in college football.
Finalists for the 31st annual collegiate Butkus Award will be announced on November 23rd and the winners will be notified on or before December 8th. Selection is handled by a panel of 51 coaches, recruiters, scouts and journalists who vote separately and confidentially using a 3-2-1 process.
