
Gator Great Abby Wambach Speaks at UF Phillips Center Today

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Gator Great and 2015 Women's World Cup champion Abby Wambach is coming to speak at the University of Florida on Nov. 3 at an event by ACCENT Speakers Bureau.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and the doors will open at 7 p.m.
Ted Spiker, chair of the Journalism Department at UF's College of Journalism and Communications and professor of Sports Media and Society, will be moderating the event which will include an audience Q&A.
Tickets are free and open to everyone. Students with a valid UF identification can pick up a maximum of two tickets beginning at noon on Monday, Nov. 2 at the Phillips Center box office. The general public may pick up a maximum of tickets beginning at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 3, also at the box office.
Wambach was a multi-time All-Americans and owns the Gators' and Southeastern Conference goals record (96). She was a freshman starter on Florida's 1998 NCAA title team. Wambach is also the all-time goal scorer in international soccer history with 184 goals.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was named last spring as one the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. Wambach also serves as an athletic ambassador for Right to Play, an organization that uses sports to teach and encourage children.
