ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Florida women's tennis team was back in action on Thursday at the 2015 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Three Gators have moved onto the round of 16 in their respective singles draws.
No. 1 overall seed Josie Kuhlman rolled in her match against Natalia Vlasova of Old Dominion, 6-1, 6-0. Senior Brianna Morgan defeated UNF's Monica Mitta in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. In the garnet draw, Spencer Liang used three sets to take down Yuchia Chen of Louisiana Tech, 6-1, 5-7, 6-0. In other singles action, Peggy Porter fell to Jiayuan Xue of Troy, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, the Gator tandem of Kuhlman and Morgan got the victory over Cerezo-Codina and Daxhelet of Virginia Tech, 8-5 to reach the round of 16. No. 55-ranked Porter and Liang received a bye into the next round.
