
Wagner, Torres Claim Top-Five Finishes at Dixie Amateur

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Three University of Florida women's golfers teed off at the Dixie Amateur in Coral Springs, Fla., over the weekend for some offseason tournament practice.
Freshman Sam Wagner and junior Maria Torres placed in the top-5 at the four-day event, while senior walk-on Laura Kanouse also made the cut, finishing tied for 54th.
Wagner placed third out of the 135-player field, scoring back-to-back 69s in the second and third rounds to finish at -4 (284). Torres tied for fifth overall, scoring 71-75-70-70 to total 2-under (286) at the par-72 Heron Bay Golf Club.
Up Next for the Gators: The Gators will open the 2016 spring season on Feb. 1, in Lecanto, Fla., at the Florida Challenge.
