Former Gators Post 5 Top-10 Finishes at USA Swimming National Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Six former University of Florida swimmers opened Day One competition at the AT&T Winter National Championships in Federal Way, Washington, on Thursday. The Gator Alums swam a long-course (50-meter pool) format while competing inside the Weyhauser King County Aquatic Center.
All six former Gators hit U.S. Olympic Trial-qualifying times in all of their respective races.
A seven-time All-American in the Blue and Orange, Conor Dwyer highlighted the prelims session with a first-place finish in the men's 400-meter freestyle (3:50.46). Later in the finals, the 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist
Two-time Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel also had a pair of strong showings in the 400-meter freestyle and 200 Individual Medley. Beisel swam to a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle finals with a time of 4:10.21 and touched out at the 2:14.26 mark in the 200 IM to finish 10th overall.
Eduardo Solaeche-Gomez raced two outstanding races in the 200-meter individual medley event. Solaeche-Gomez finished third in both the prelims session and finals, touching out with his best time of 2:00.14 coming in the finals.
Dan Wallace -- who was a key member on the Gators' 2014-15 squad -- posted a top-10 finish in the 200-meter individual medley. Wallace swam a time of 2:02.18 in the prelims and later bested his time with a mark of 2:01.25 to finish eighth in the 'A' final.
The former Gators return to action tomorrow with four men's and women's events scheduled in a prelims/finals format. Friday's competition includes the 400-meter Individual Medley, 100-meter Butterfly, 200-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Backstroke.
