
Gator Gymnast Ericha Fassbender is SEC Freshman of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The first collegiate all-around win for Florida's Ericha Fassbender gave her the Southeastern Conference Freshman Gymnast of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.

Fassbender is the fifth different Gator honored by the league this season. Bridget Sloan was Week I SEC Specialist of the Week after she opened the 2015 season with a 10.0 vault mark at Ball State. Freshman Alex McMurtry was Week II SEC Specialist of the Week after she also posted a 10.0 vault mark. Kytra Hunter was Week IV Gymnast of the Week and Kennedy Baker claimed the Week II and Week IV SEC Freshman of the Week honors.

Fassbender Performance at Arkansas:
Fassbender became the ninth Gator to win in her all-around debut, claiming the dual meet title last Friday at then No. 8 Arkansas with a 39.375. The last Gator to win in their all-around debut was Hunter in the 2012 season opener.
Fassbender stepped into Florida's uneven bars lineup for the first time this season to replace Baker, who sat out the meet due to a concussion. Fassbender shared the bars title at 9.85 with teammates Claire Boyce and Bridgette Caquatto and Arkansas' Paige Zaziski.
She also registered collegiate-best marks for vault (9.875) and balance beam (9.85) at Arkansas.
Next up for the Gators:
The Gators return home to play host to Missouri on Friday, Feb. 13 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Meet time is set for 6:45 p.m.
Friday's meet is Princess/Superhero Night and fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite princess or superhero. Come early to meet and mingle with other princesses and superheros who will be at Gate 4 to take pictures with fans. The first 1,000 fans, 12 and under, will receive a tiara or superhero mask.
The Florida-Missouri dual will stream live beginning at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+, which can be viewed by all SEC Network subscribers. The meet also will air tape-delayed on ESPN2 (Gainesville/Ocala Cox cable 27 or 1027) on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
