
Gators Take Challenging Stretch on the Road at No. 24 Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida and No. 24 Georgia square off for the 65th time when the teams battle on Thursday at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga., where tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Thursday's game is the second in a three-game span against a nationally-ranked opponent. UF is coming off a 64-56 setback to No. 6 Tennessee and next plays No. 13 Mississippi State Sunday afternoon in Starkville.
The game against the Lady Bulldogs also is the first of a two-game road trip, as well as the first game in a five-game spell that features four road contests for the Gators.
Florida and Georgia will face each other again on March 1 in Gainesville in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Florida vs. Georgia: The Series at a Glance

· The series against Georgia is the second-longest for Florida in program history, trailing only the 71 games played against instate rival Florida State.

· Redshirt senior Kayla Lewis is a native of the Peach State.

· Named 2010 Miss Georgia Basketball, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club
· During four-year prep career tallied 1,349 points (13.8 ppg), 691 rebounds (7.1 rpg), 162 steals (1.7 spg), 151 assists (1.5 apg) and 140 blocked shots (1.4 pg), while shooting 52 percent from the floor
· Led SWDHS in 2010 to a successful defense of its Class AAAA State Championship, scoring 20 points in the final versus Northwest Whitfield at Gwinnett Arena en rout to the Panthers winning their third consecutive state title
Gators vs. Ranked Teams
· Cassie Peoples has averaged a team-leading 10.7 points in the three games this season against ranked opponents, including the season-best 18 points she put up against Tennessee (Feb. 8).
· In those games, Peoples also dished 13 assists, hit 5-of-15 three-pointers (33.3%) and converted 7-of-8 free throws (87.5%).

· UTILITY - 1: Cassie Peoples leads the Gators in assists (91), steals (47) and trips to the free throw line (75), where she leads the SEC with a 86.8 percent clip.
