
Buddy Reed Named SEC Co-Player of the Week for the First Time

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore outfielder Buddy Reed was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday for the first time in his career after hitting .444 (8-for-18) as the Gators captured three of four contests, including a series triumph over No. 8 Miami. He shared the honor with LSU senior catcher Kade Scivicque.
Reed's Highlights
*Batted a team-best .444 (8-for-18) with four RBI, four stolen bases, three runs and a pair of outfield assists as the Gators went 3-1 last week
*Led Florida to the series victory over No. 8 Miami by going 5-for-12 (.417), with at least one hit in each game
*Tied Sunday's rubber match versus the Hurricanes with a two-out RBI single to right field in the third inning
*Delivered a walk-off single in the ninth inning to score senior Josh Tobias with the winning run in UF's 4-3 triumph on Friday night
*Finished the opener 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and also scored on freshman Mike Rivera's game-tying two-run single in the sixth inning
*Earned an outfield assist as the Gators had cut down the potential tying run in the eighth inning
*Went 3-for-6 with two runs, two RBI and two thefts as Florida handled USF in mid-week action
*Through seven games, Reed is hitting .281, with six RBI and five runs, and leads UF with four stolen bases
The No. 5 Gators (6-1) start a four-game week by facing Florida Atlantic (6-1) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla.
