NEW YORK, N.Y. – Florida junior goalkeeper Mary-Sean Wilcox has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The goalkeeper boasted a .545 save percentage in the Gators' 17-7 win over San Diego State, stopping six shots, while also being credited with four ground balls. Wilcox has anchored a Florida defense that over the last three games has allowed just 5.3 goals per game.
The Lutherville, Maryland, native became the second-consecutive Florida defender to receive the weekly award after Caroline Fitzgerald earned the distinction a week ago.
Joining Wilcox among the BIG EAST's weekly honorees were senior midfielder Shannon Gilroy and freshman attack Shayna Pirreca, who were both named to the Conference's Weekly Honor Roll.
