New York, N.Y. – Redshirt junior Nicole Graziano was named to the BIG EAST Conference's weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The midfielder led No. 5 Florida to an 11-8 victory over No. 16 Loyola last Tuesday, scoring a season-best five goals, just one shy of her career best.
With the Gators' leading scorer, Shannon Gilroy, facing a constant Loyola faceguard the entire afternoon, Graziano stepped up for Florida, netting her five goals on a mere six shots.
In addition to her fine offensive performance against Loyola, she contributed two draw controls and one caused turnover, despite playing just under 10 minutes, in Saturday's 21-4 win over Niagara.
After missing all of 2014, the midfielder has returned to become one of the BIG EAST's best two-way players. Entering tonight's game against No. 6 Syracuse, Graziano ranks tied for fifth in the BIG EAST in draw controls per game (2.71) and ranks second in free-position goals per game (1.14).
She ranks second on the team in goals (14) and points (17), while leading the team with eight caused turnovers. This is second time Graziano has earned the award, last being name on Feb. 17.
Graziano and her teammates host No. 6 Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville. The game will air live on SEC Network+ through the WatchESPN app.
