Last Friday at Oklahoma:
Florida finished 2015 regular-season road action by visiting the arena of the team the Gators shared the 2014 NCAA team title – top-ranked Oklahoma. The competition was exactly what was expected – a high-scoring meet with a record crowd. It was the highest scoring meet of the 2015 season, as Oklahoma used the nation's top total of 198.50 to take the win. The Gators' total of 198.10 is the nation's second-highest road score of 2015.
The Gators turned in a nearly-perfect 9.975 on three events, with that mark taking two event titles. Freshman Alex McMurtry, the nation's top-ranked vaulter, claimed her sixth title. Junior All-American Bridget Sloan won the uneven bars after matching her collegiate best of 9.975 for the second consecutive meet. Senior All-American Kytra Hunter set her collegiate balance beam best at 9.975, which took second overall in the dual.
Hunter also matched her season-high all-around total of 39.75 for her 75th event title of her career. Sloan's bars win pushed her career total of event titles to 60.
SEC Gymnast of the Week Goes to Kytra Hunter
For her performance at Oklahoma, Hunter claimed the SEC Gymnast of the Week honor for the third time this season and for the eighth time of her career. She is No. 1 in both the all-around and floor exercise in the latest GymInfo national rankings.
Five different Gators have been honored by the league this season (SEC Gymnast of Week: Hunter-Week IV, VI and IX; Specialist of the Week: Sloan-Week I; McMurtry-Week II; SEC Freshman of Week: Kennedy Baker-Week II, IV, VI and VIII; Ericha Fassbender Week V; McMurtry Week VII).
