NEW YORK, N.Y. – Florida senior Shannon Gilroy was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week for a second-consecutive week and junior Carly Ross was named to the conference's Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Gilroy lead the Gators to a 17-3 victory over Temple on Saturday and tallied a game-high five points on four goals and one assist. The senior added three draw controls and helped UF snap Temple's five-game winning streak.
The All-American midfielder currently ranks second nationally in points (57) and goals (43). She needs just two more goals to move into the top-25 of the all-time goal scorers in NCAA Division I history list.
Ross picked up her first weekly award of the season after having totaling a season-high five points and three goals against the Owls. She also added a career-high two assists.
After being held scoreless through the first four games of the season, Ross has rebounded over the last eight games, registering 15 points on 10 goals and five assists.
No. 8 Florida (8-4, 2-0) returns to action on Saturday (April 4) when it returns home to Donald R. Dizney Stadium to take on Georgetown (2-7, 1-0) in a BIG EAST contest at noon.
